The Palestinian Authority is alleged to have agreed to a security deal with the Israeli occupation regime, even as the apartheid state carries out the genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. According to the war correspondent for Israel’s Channel 14, the deal will see PA security forces tackling resistance activities in the north of the occupied West Bank following the launch of a large-scale military campaign by the occupation forces last month.

Hallel Biton Rosen wrote on X that it is expected that, “Around 500 of Abu Mazen’s [Mahmoud Abbas’s] men armed with weapons, will operate in northern Samaria [sic] and areas in the Jordan Valley to counter terrorism, in parallel with our forces.” The deal has been agreed with the “security mechanisms of the Palestinian Authority after Operation Summer Camps,” a reference to the offensive launched against cities in the occupied West Bank, including Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas.

The military offensive is described as the largest since 2002, and has already resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of Palestinians.

On Monday, fighting broke out between resistance groups and PA security forces in the Jenin refugee, after the latter dismantled an improvised explosive device (IED) near the camp entrance, according to social media posts by local people. The IED was aimed at vehicles used by the occupation forces, which have attacked Jenin and its refugee camp repeatedly since the beginning of the Israeli escalation against the West Bank post-7 October.

Palestinian factions accuse the PA of restricting their activities through its security forces, as well as arresting their members.

The PA security forces surrounded the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion affiliated with Al-Quds Brigades, Muhammad Jaber, when he was taken to Thabet Thabet Hospital in the West Bank in July. He had been wounded when an explosive device being prepared blew up prematurely. Angry Jenin residents pushed the security forces away and stopped them arresting Jaber, who has survived several assassination attempts.
