The Israeli National Democratic Alliance, Balad, criticised Israel’s administrative detention policy saying it comes within “the vengeful policies pursued … against the Palestinian people in general and the entire political and national activity within Israel.”
The alliance, which largely represents Palestinians citizens of Israel, commented on the administrative detention of Basil Dahesh Akri the day after a court acquitted him of all charges, saying: “These policies and administrative detention without trial or conviction and in violation of international human rights, clearly reveal the insane and vengeful mentality of the Israeli establishment.”
It said as soon as the court acquitted him, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant decided to administratively detain him.
In its statement, the alliance expressed full solidarity with the man’s family and thanked his legal team.
