Four people have been arrested in Tunisia for raising the Turkish flag above the headquarters of the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT), local media reported.

SNCFT apologised for the error and removed the flag on Wednesday.

Both the Turkish and Tunisian flags are red and white with the crescent and star as symbols of Islam. The main difference between the two is that the moon and star in Tunisia’s flag are red, encased in a white circle, while the Turkish flag has the celestial bodies in white on the red background.

No details have been given as to who has been arrested.

The transport ministry has launched an investigation to “seek responsibilities and take administrative and regulatory sanctions.”
