A Palestinian paramedic has been killed while in Israeli detention, as hundreds of medical personnel continue to be killed and detained during Israel’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health on Saturday, Palestinian medic Hamdan Abu Anaba is confirmed to have died while in custody in an Israeli prison, with the medic having “been martyred since the date of his arrest” in December.

Abu Anaba and his colleagues were reportedly arrested by Israeli forces at Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza back in December while performing their duties as medics. Since then, like other medics and Palestinians of other fields detained by Israel’s occupation, his fate had been uncertain and unconfirmed until now.

In its announcement, the ministry also stated that it “calls on all international and human rights institutions to urgently reveal the fate of dozens of health workers who were kidnapped from hospitals while performing their humanitarian duties.”

Since Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip and the start of its genocidal war crimes there in October last year, over 885 medical personnel have been killed and 310 others have been detained, according to the ministry.
