Three people were killed in Lebanon’s Bekaa region in the east of the country as walkie talkies exploded, the state news agency reported today.
Lebanese state officials say the death toll is nine.
Twelve people, including two children, were killed in blasts yesterday, while over 2,000 were injured in Lebanon and Syria.
Hezbollah confirmed that at least two members were killed and many injured in the mass explosion and held Israel fully responsible for the incident, vowing ‘just retaliation from unexpected quarters’ to Israel.
The Lebanese Health Ministry earlier urged all citizens who own the pager communication devices to immediately dispose of them.
Sky News Arabia said Mossad was behind the attacks, as it had infiltrated the delivery of pagers and rigged them with the highly explosive material pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN).
According to Lebanese sources, several injuries and fires broke out in multiple apartments, vehicles, and motorcycles due to the explosion of communication devices in various areas of Lebanon.
