Israeli media outlets revealed satellite images of which they claim show medium- and long-range ballistic missile launch pads deep in the Sinai Mountains in Egypt.
The Israeli news website Nziv said yesterday the images indicate that Egypt is building sites to launch medium- and long-range ballistic missiles.
A report by the Jewish Press news site, which is affiliated with the extreme right in Israel, downplayed the significance of the platforms to Israel’s security, saying there is no cause for concern.
The Hebrew website further claimed that Egypt had been keen on possessing ballistic missiles since the 1960s, “when it recruited German scientists who had worked on the Nazi V2 project” to arm themselves for the final battle against Israel.
In July, Israeli media revealed satellite images of what it said were also “ballistic missile launch pads located deep in the mountains of Egypt.”
The Hebrew websites explained that “these images show sites dug deep in the mountains, and that construction operations are ongoing,” stressing that “Egypt is working to enhance its military capabilities in an unprecedented way, through missile arms.”
