Anger spread in Hungary this week after reports that the pagers that exploded in Lebanon, killing dozens including two children, were made by a company registered in Budapest.
One resident told Anadolu that he is sad that residents of another country were killed using devices manufactured in his country or even that his country’s name was mentioned in such a case.
Another Hungarian citizen, Victor, also expressed sadness over the killing of dozens as a result of the explosion of communications devices in Lebanon on Tuesday, saying: “It is sad that a Hungarian was involved in this operation. This country is a large nation, and I believe that everyone in Hungary is not the same.”
For his part, Hungarian citizen Alex said, “I reject the targeting of the territory of an independent state or an entire group with a terrorist attack.”
He added that what is happening in the Gaza Strip has nothing to do with humanitarian values, and that Israel’s practices are in violation of international law.
He also stressed the need for the international community to take decisive steps to stop Israel and limit its practices against the Palestinians.
At least 25 people, including children, were killed and more than 3,000 others were wounded following pager explosions in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Lebanese health authorities.
