Hamas has accused the US administration, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President Joe Biden, of being complicit in the genocide being carried out against Palestinians, Quds Press reported.
This follows a report by the US investigative journalism outlet ProPublica which claims that Blinken deliberately concealed details of Israeli military crimes in Gaza from Congress, fearing it would impact arms supplies to the occupation state’s army.
In a press statement yesterday, Hamas said: “This criminal conduct by Blinken calls for honourable members of the US Congress and US judicial bodies to investigate the matter. It has resulted in the deaths of thousands of our people, either through direct killing with American weapons or by colluding with the policies of starvation and deprivation carried out by the criminal Zionist entity, in blatant violation of basic principles of international humanitarian law.”
The movement also called on “international judicial institutions, foremost among them the International Criminal Court, to take these reports seriously and pursue legal action against Blinken, as he is complicit in the deliberate starvation and genocide of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”
Israel is on trial for genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Its leaders are also facing possible arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Israel’s occupation has been deemed illegal by the ICJ and the UN has demanded that the apartheid state end its illegal occupation within 12 months.
