The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, yesterday accused Israel of undermining international efforts to halt the aggression on Lebanon.

Supporting the presidential call for a ceasefire, Berri said: “We affirm Lebanon’s positive stance, as announced by the prime minister in New York, regarding the presidential ceasefire call following the French-American summit, which has garnered wide international backing.”

“Israel is responsible for thwarting all efforts aimed at stopping the aggression, and its fireball is engulfing all of Lebanon,” according to Russia Today.

Berri also praised the unity, cohesion and solidarity of the Lebanese people in the face of Israeli aggression.

Israeli occupation forces launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon overnight, while continuing to bomb Beirut and other areas of the country, including the Ain El-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp.
