Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has affirmed that Washington bears a significant share of the responsibility for the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East.
In her daily briefing yesterday, Zakharova stated that Russia views resolving the Palestinian issue as the “fundamental pillar” for achieving peace in the Middle East.
She referred to the meeting held by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with the heads of Arab diplomatic missions in Moscow, in which they shared their views on the developments in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing and unprecedented escalation of violence resulting from Israel’s military operation in Gaza and its attack on Lebanese territories.
Participants called for an immediate halt to hostilities in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, while also expressing deep concern over the growing risks of a large-scale war in the Middle East.
The meeting also underscored the need for restraint, avoidance of provocative actions and adherence to the relevant United Nations and Security Council resolutions.
