The expiry of a gas transit deal between Ukraine and Russia would not be a problem for Hungary as it would be able to receive gas via Turkstream, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said today, according to Reuters.

Turkstream may also help other European countries secure gas supplies, he told an energy conference in Russia.

The current transit deal whereby Russian gas flows across Ukraine to central European countries is due to expire at the end of the year.

TurkStream allows Russian natural gas to cross the Black Sea and travel from Russia to Turkiye.
