An Israeli national has been arrested in the southern suburbs of Beirut after entering Lebanon as a journalist, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported yesterday.
According to Ynet News: “Joshua Tartakovsky, a former ultra-Orthodox man from Jerusalem, was arrested in Beirut’s Dahieh district on Tuesday after he entered the country in recent days as an ‘investigative journalist.’ His activity in the country raised the local authorities’ suspicion.”
Tartakovsky entered Lebanon using a British passport. Investigators found an Israeli passport in his possession.
Based on his social media accounts, this was not Tartakovsky’s first visit to Beirut.
It is illegal for Israelis to enter Lebanon under both Israeli and Lebanese law.
