Nothing justifies the civilian death toll in Gaza, French President Emmanuel Macron said yesterday, emphasising the urgent need to end the ongoing conflict.
Speaking before members of the Moroccan Parliament, Macron condemned the atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza for over a year.
“The Middle East is in a labyrinth,” he remarked. “Nothing can justify such a large number of civilian deaths in Gaza.”
He further insisted, “we have continuously called for a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of Israeli prisoners, the protection of the population and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”
Macron also highlighted the necessity for a ceasefire in Lebanon, stating: “We are working towards this in collaboration with American partners and others.”
He called for a halt to military exports as a means to stop the war in both Lebanon and Gaza.
He affirmed France’s commitment to ensuring that Palestinians, Lebanese and Israelis can attain security and live in peace, urging that all displaced individuals be allowed to return to their homes.
