The Egyptian Armed Forces have “categorically denied” assisting Israel in its military operations, confirming “no form of cooperation between the two sides.”
In a statement, the Egyptian military spokesperson said: “The Egyptian Armed Forces categorically deny the claims circulating on social media and suspicious accounts, as well as any promotion of alleged assistance to Israel in its military operations, in their entirety.”
The spokesperson added: “The Egyptian Armed Forces assert that there is absolutely no form of cooperation with Israel.”
The spokesperson further urged “accuracy in the information being circulated.”
Earlier, Egyptian media reports claimed that a vessel carrying weapons “en route to Israel” had arrived at Alexandria port, which the Egyptian military denied.
LSEG data and vessel-tracking website Marine Traffic indicated that the German flagged MV Kathrin had docked in the major Egyptian Mediterranean port of Alexandria on Monday and was last seen there. Rights groups have said the vessel is carrying a 150-metric-tonne shipment of military-grade explosives, which they say is to be delivered to Israel’s biggest defence contractor, Elbit Systems.
