The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs yesterday condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ seizure of 64 dunams (15.8 acres) of land in the village of Umm Tuba, located south of Jerusalem.
In a statement, the ministry warned that the land seizure threatens the displacement of dozens of Palestinian families, describing it as part of a “systematic Israeli land grab aimed at forcibly uprooting Palestinians from Jerusalem.”
This, the ministry added, is an “extension of a long series of illegal, unilateral measures carried out by Israeli authorities in their race to consolidate the annexation, Judaization and complete isolation of Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings.”
It further claimed that Israel is attempting to thwart international consensus on a two-state solution by creating new facts on the ground, accompanied by what it called a campaign of “genocide and displacement”, in an effort to unilaterally shape the future of the conflict to align with Israeli interests.
The statement called for decisive international measures beyond mere condemnations and expressions of concern, urging action to force Israel to cease its “aggression” and end its occupation as per UN resolutions, to safeguard the credibility of international institutions.
There has been no comment from Israel regarding the land seizure.
