Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, highlighted the key role of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in preventing Israeli aggression and advancing Palestinian rights at his recent meeting with Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS), Anadolu News Agency reports.
According to the report, this high-profile meeting in Riyadh focused on bolstering diplomatic action to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and secure regional stability.
President Erdogan called for the OIC to represent the voice of Muslim nations in the face of rising tensions in Gaza and the West Bank, the report says.
Erdogan noted that coordinated OIC intervention is essential to stopping further violence and fighting for the security of Palestinian civilians.
While member states had condemned the recent incidents, the Turkish Prime Minister pointed out that collective OIC action could make their voices heard internationally, the report also said.
“OIC members should strongly voice their condemnation of the aggression and continue to advocate for peace talks to defend Palestinian rights,” Erdogan said.
The report said that Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman also underscored the significance of OIC solidarity, stating that Saudi Arabia supports Palestinians and is supportive of international humanitarian efforts.
The Crown Prince said he would work closely with Turkiye and other regional stakeholders to end the violence and map a path towards peace.
The two presidents outlined a strategy to mobilise support within the OIC and to strengthen relations with other international agencies to resolve the conflict.
