Turkiye’s exports to African countries hit more than $15 billion between January and October this year, as per foreign trade data, Anadolu News Agency reports.
According to the report, the shipment industries expanded to Africa by 1.8 per cent during the first ten months of the year 2023 and totalled $15.1 billion according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency (AA) from Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
In addition to this growing trade, Turkish construction and energy cooperation is becoming an important partner for Africa’s development and investment.
In recent years, the bilateral relations between Ankara and African countries have grown in re-empowerment, with restoration and enlargement of its embassies in 44 of African countries, while there were just 12 in 2003.
Exports to Africa represent 7 per cent of Turkiye’s total exports during this period. That makes the continent the sixth largest receiver of the total exports from Turkiye out of twelve.
In comparison, Turkiye has exported $79.9 billion to the European Union countries in the first ten months of 2023 and $23.3 billion to the Middle Eastern countries.
