Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism yesterday revealed that more than 14.6 million foreign tourists visited the country in the first ten months of the year.
“The number of tourists who visited the country from the beginning of 2024 until the end of October reached 14.6 million,” Moroccan Minister of Tourism Fatima El-Zahraa Ammor said in a statement.
She noted that this represents a 19 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023, equivalent to an additional 2.3 million tourists, setting a new record.
“These exceptional figures confirm that Morocco has become an indispensable international destination,” Ammor added.
The Moroccan tourism sector has seen consistent growth, with revenues surpassing $10 billion for the first time in 2023. The kingdom aims to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026, particularly as it prepares to host major sporting events and international conferences, including the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
Tourism was the second-largest source of foreign currency in Morocco in 2023, following remittances from Moroccans abroad.
