The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has revealed that around 14,000 pregnant women in Lebanon have been affected by the Israeli aggression on the country.

The report, issued yesterday, noted that of these women, around 1,500 are expected to give birth in the coming weeks.

According to the International Organisation for Migration, the Israeli aggression has displaced around 880,000 people within Lebanon while an additional 470,000 have sought refuge in neighbouring Syria, which has faced its own civil war since 2011.

In response to this humanitarian crisis, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has launched an appeal for $426 million to provide vital support to those affected by Israel’s bombing of Lebanon.

However, as of now, only about a quarter of this has been secured from international donors.
