Some 15,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of starvation due to the intensive Israeli attacks and strict siege, theUnited Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned yesterday.

According to the UN agency, there are about 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza; 4,000 of them are expected to give birth in December, while about 15,000 pregnant women face famine. The UN agency warned that heavy rains and limited aid have exacerbated the displaced families’ suffering in the Strip.

UNRWA noted that 2024 was the deadliest year for humanitarian workers, with 281 killed worldwide, most of them UNRWA staff in Gaza.
