The predominantly Druze Suwayda governorate in southern Syria witnessed a protest in support of the Syrian opposition forces’ recapture of Aleppo city from government forces, Anadolu reported.

Protesters held banners with slogans such as “Victory in Aleppo is a triumph for all free Syrians. Congratulations to all Syrians,” and “Aleppo is in our hearts. Our blood is precious and must not be sacrificed for traitors. A drop of blood is worth more than any seat or president.”

On 27 November, clashes broke out between armed opposition factions and the forces of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in the western countryside of Aleppo.

Opposition forces quickly advanced in western Aleppo and seized control of several areas in the Idlib countryside.

They entered Aleppo city on Friday afternoon, continuing their push throughout the evening and taking control of most of its neighbourhoods.

The factions captured Saadallah Al-Jabri Square in the city centre, along with the government buildings, police headquarters and the Aleppo Citadel.

On Saturday, the opposition extended its control over the entire Idlib governorate, securing numerous locations in its countryside, including the cities of Maarat Al-Nu’man and Khan Shaykhoun.
