Palestinian and international doctors have called for the evacuation of 25,000 injured and ill individuals from Gaza to hospitals in Jerusalem via the humanitarian corridor between the two areas, Quds Press reported.

The appeal was made during a press conference held yesterday at Augusta Victoria Hospital in occupied Jerusalem, as medical centres in Gaza continue to struggle as a result of Israel’s siege and targeting of medical professionals, lack of fuel, medicines, food and water.

“Estimates indicate that 25,000 people in Gaza require life-saving medical care due to their critical condition,” the doctors said.

At least 105,250 Palestinians have been injured in the besieged enclave since October 2023. According to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Gaza now has “the highest number of children amputees per capita anywhere in the world.”
