Israeli forces are currently fighting on four fronts, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said yesterday, namely Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and as of Saturday night in Syria.
Speaking during a meeting with recruits from the Golani Brigade, Halevi added that the Israeli occupation army has deployed ground forces into Syria, noting that the Air Force and intelligence services have joined the operations.
He claimed the forces were “defending Israel to a great extent” calling on members of the Golani unit to prepare to participate in the fighting.
Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham took control of the Syrian capital, Damascus, in the early hours of Sunday morning, after launching a large-scale operation on the city of Aleppo on 29 November.
The fall of Damascus marked the end of the rule of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, who had reportedly left the country to an unknown destination.
