Israel’s Supreme Court released Eliezer Feldstein, the prime minister’s spokesman, the main suspect in a leaking secret scandal and to extend the detention of the member of the military intelligence who is suspected in the case.

The decision of the Supreme Court came after the prosecution appealed the decision of the Central Court in Tel Aviv, last week, to release both suspects.

Feldstein and the other suspect – an IDF reservist noncommissioned officer whose identity has not been released – have been detained since late October.

Thirty-two-year-old Feldstein was charged with transferring classified information with intent to harm the state, while the unnamed reservist was charged with transferring classified information. The alleged motivation behind the leak was to alleviate public criticism levelled against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not securing the release of captives held in Gaza.
