Syrian rebels said yesterday that they found at least 40 bodies bearing signs of torture inside a hospital morgue near the capital, Damascus.
The rebels told AFP the bodies were stuffed into body bags with numbers and sometimes names written on them.
This comes as intensive searches continued yesterday for detainees held in underground cells in the notorious Sednaya Prison, where some prisoners have been held for 40 years.
Attempts to access some parts of the prison continue as they are hidden behind locked doors and behind concealed entrances.
