UN official: genocide in Gaza occurring amid international indifference

Genocide in the Gaza Strip is taking place amid international indifference, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, said yesterday.

Albanese noted that another harsh winter is approaching for Gaza’s residents, many of whom are homeless due to the destruction of their homes by Israel. She highlighted that over 44,000 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed as a result of Israeli air strikes targeting various areas across the Strip.

Albanese stressed the urgent need for Israel to halt the genocide in Gaza and to end its occupation of the West Bank by September next year, as per the UN resolution adopted in September and the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion.
