At least seven people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza City on Sunday, the Civil Defence Service said, Anadolu news agency reported.
Spokesman Mahmoud Basal said several people were also injured in the attack that targeted the upper floor of Al-Wafa Hospital in the centre of the city.
According to witnesses, an Israeli fighter jet hit the upper floor of the hospital, where scores of displaced civilians have taken shelter.
The Israeli army has continued its genocidal war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since across-border incursion led by Hamas on 7 October, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
International recognition of the Gaza genocide has grown in the second year of the deadly Israeli war, as organisations and leaders have labelled the offensive as a deliberate attempt to destroy the population and make Gaza uninhabitable.
Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its brutal war on Gaza.
