Turkiye will not hold back from applying the iron fist in order to realise its anti-terrorist dream, president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday.
“We will work hard to make our terror-free Turkiye and terror-free region dream a reality,” Erdogan promised in his new year’s video message.
“We are working hard for this, the new direction that will be a part of this,” Erdogan said, referencing the recent attempt by his government to stop 40 years of terror in Turkiye.
The end of terrorism in Turkiye, mostly led by the PKK, which has fought the Turkish government for more than 40 years, may be just around the corner.
PKK prisoner Abdullah Ocalan declared this week he was “ready to make a call” in support of a new Turkish government effort to defeat terrorism in Turkiye.
‘On that note, we’ll be able to tell the good news to our citizens in 2025,’ Erdogan added.
He wished the Turkish people a Happy New Year and expressed condolences for all those who died in 2024.
