The Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis has announced the complete suspension of health services, except for critical departments, which include intensive care, emergency operations, dialysis and the oxygen station, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.

The Khan Yunis medical complex announced today that this decision was taken due to a fuel shortage. It confirmed that almost all generators at the complex have stopped, with only a small generator currently operational.

The amount of fuel available in the complex is sufficient to run the small generator for just three hours. The complex warned of a humanitarian and health disaster threatening the lives of patients who could suffocate on their ICU beds.

At least 5,500 litres of diesel fuel are needed daily to ensure the continuation of medical services. The complex appealed to international organisations and entities for urgent intervention to provide fuel to guarantee the ongoing delivery of medical services.
