The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva discussed cooperation and ways to enhance their close links in a telephone call yesterday, the Emir’s office has confirmed. Middle East issues and international developments were also discussed.

Relations between Qatar and Brazil are developing more and more, which has paved the way for strategic and investment partnerships in many sectors. Both countries provide environments conducive to investment and the participation of foreign capital.

The volume of bilateral trade between Qatar and Brazil is worth over 3.8 billion riyals ($1.4bn), which confirms the strength and solidity of relations between them at all levels, especially in terms of the economy and commerce.

Qatar-Brazil relations are governed by a set of agreements covering cooperation in the political, cultural, sports and civil aviation fields, with mutual exemptions from visa requirements for diplomatic and special passports.

At the end of November 2023, Doha received President Lula, who discussed bilateral relations and developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied territories with Emir Tamim.
