Settlers have begun building a settlement road connecting the illegal Alon settlement road near occupied Nablus to settlement outposts they established after Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza in 2023, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

Bulldozers operated by settlers have started to carve out a new road between the village of Tana, east of Nablus, and the central Jordan Valley. Researcher Raed Muqadi from the Land Research Centre reported that settlers began to prepare the road connecting the village of Tana to the town of Beit Furik and the central Jordan Valley, covering approximately one and a half kilometres. The aim is to create a link between the Alon road and the new settlement outpost established by settlers on the lands of Khirbat Tana after the war on the Gaza Strip, to serve illegal settlement activities in that area.

Muqadi noted that the road that settlers began to prepare was reopened by the Israeli occupation authority in 2020, which then installed an iron gate on it. The road had been closed since the Second Intifada in 2000. The measure was meant to facilitate the movement of military vehicles between the Jordan Valley, Beit Furik and Tana.

He pointed out that the road has been open for over 50 years and was used by farmers to travel between the Jordan Valley and Beit Furik.
