Hamas: Israel deliberately worsening Gaza's healthcare crisis

Israel “deliberately exacerbates” the situation of the healthcare system in the besieged Gaza Strip by preventing fuel from reaching hospitals, Hamas warned in a statement yesterday.

“The occupation deliberately exacerbates the healthcare system’s situation as part of its ongoing plan to destroy the health sector in Gaza,” the Palestinian movement said.

“The occupation continues to impose severe restrictions on fuel supplies to hospitals, providing only minimal amounts that scarcely last a few hours.”

“At the same time, it tries to mislead the international community about providing aid, while targeting hospitals and medical centres with bombings, destruction and restrictions on fuel and essential medical supplies needed to keep them operational.”

The Islamic Resistance Movement noted that Israeli restrictions on fuel supplies are part of its broader strategy to dismantle the healthcare sector in Gaza, showing no regard for the lives of thousands of patients and injured individuals suffering due to the occupation’s bombing and siege.

It reiterated its call for the United Nations, specialised international agencies, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to take immediate action to save Gaza’s health sector from the risk of complete collapse. This includes ensuring the urgent needs of hospitals are met, such as providing medical delegations to treat the wounded and injured.
