The Gaza Government Media Office (GMO) has urged Palestinians across the besieged enclave to show “extreme vigilance and utmost caution” specially when moving between regions, governorates and displacement sites, amid reports of an imminent ceasefire deal that could see displaced civilians return to their homes.
In a statement issued yesterday, the GMO said previous experiences showed that the Israeli occupation is determined to inflict the utmost level of harm, committing more massacres and crimes against civilians in Gaza.
As mounting reports indicate the possibility of concluding a ceasefire deal within the next few hours, the GMO said citizens should seek information only from official Palestinian sources, and avoid moving in destroyed areas or areas witnessing intense shelling, especially in the hours following the announcement of a ceasefire, warning that the Israeli occupation army may have set up ambushes or booby-trapped properties to commit more crimes and increase damage.
It also warned civilians against approaching bombed or destroyed homes or other installations to avoid sudden collapses or falling pieces and rubble.
“You should not approach or touch remains of weaponry, and report them immediately to the competent authorities to avoid accidents that may harm you or your loved ones,” it added.
The statement called on citizens to be extremely cautious in their daily movements, and to stay away from gatherings that may be a target for the Israeli occupation.
“Citizens must be fully aware that the Israeli occupation may seek to exploit any period of calm to achieve its aggressive goals,” it added, urging Palestinians to adhere to safety instructions, and report any suspicious object or activity or threats that may pose a danger to citizens’ safety while ensuring that every step taken is based on complete caution and awareness of the surrounding risks.
