Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani announced yesterday that Syria has started a new chapter in its relations with Turkiye, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement made during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Ankara, during Al-Shibani’s first official visit to Turkiye, the Syrian official expressed deep gratitude to Turkiye for its steadfast support of the Syrian people from the onset of the revolution to the present day.
He stated that Syria and Turkiye have embarked on a new chapter founded on genuine brotherhood, mutual cooperation and efforts to promote stability and security in the region.
The minister explained that the new Syrian administration is focused on healing the wounds of its people and uniting their efforts toward building a single nation where freedom and dignity are guaranteed for all.
“We are working to restore the unity of Syrian territories, bringing areas under the control of the central government in Damascus.”
Al-Shibani emphasised the significance of Syria’s territorial integrity, declaring, “Syria cannot be divided, and the Syrian people will not accept such an outcome.” He stressed that this approach is the only way to safeguard the country’s unity, preserve its rights, and restore its sovereignty.
He also highlighted the future potential of Syrian-Turkish relations, which are set to expand to political, economic and cultural cooperation.
