Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) announced the launch of its highly anticipated historical drama Swords of the Arabs for Ramadan, which is expected to coincide with the end of February or the beginning of March. The ground-breaking series brings together over 80 renowned actors from across the Arab world.
Filmed in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, the series spans the pre-Islamic period, known as the era of ignorance, to the early Umayyad Caliphate. It explores well-known historical figures, influential stories, and diverse themes, including battles, wars, customs, traditions, literature, poetry, values and morals of the time.

Blending cinematic drama with documentary storytelling, Swords of the Arabs is said to be a first-of-its-kind production in the Arab world. The series, produced by Qatar TV also delves into the history of the Arab sword, chronicling its evolution and significance through the ages. Advanced cinematic techniques and meticulous research will bring these historical narratives to life.
The creative team includes Jordanian director Samer Jaber, script supervision by Jordanian academic Dr. Muhammad Al-Batoush and artistic production by Al-Hadi Qarnit. According to Jordan News, Al-Batoush was born in Karak in 1971 and has written numerous historical, Bedouin and social dramas, as well as plays.

The stellar cast features prominent Arab actors such as Jamal Suleiman, Salloum Haddad, Bassem Yakhour, Nidal Najm and Samira Maqroun.
As part of the cultural tradition of Ramadan TV series, Swords of the Arabs adds to the annual season’s significance. Religious-themed and historic series are popular among families across the region during the holy month of fasting.
According to Alkhaleej Online, the series represents a qualitative step in the Arab drama industry, “as it combines originality and innovation to present a work that is worthy of our civilization and history.”
