Palestinian police have arrested a man in Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, for illegally possessing hundreds of items which are suspected to be archaeological artefacts.
In a statement released yesterday, police said the arrest came after a tip about the person, who is not a resident of the governorate, and who possessed metal and pottery pieces inside a vehicle in the city of Jenin.
The Tourism and Antiquities Police Branch, supported by the Special Police and joint patrols, immediately moved in and arrested the man and seized 757 pieces suspected of being archaeological artefacts.
The suspect and the items will be referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation, police added.
