Israeli media sources have revealed that Tel Aviv informed Palestinian Authority (PA) officials about its decision to carry out a military operation in Jenin and its refugee camp in the occupied West Bank before launching the offensive earlier yesterday.

According to Channel 12, the PA’s security forces withdrew from Jenin, which they had been surrounding, to allow the Israeli occupation’s military operation to proceed.

Six Palestinians were killed in Israel’s attacks on Jenin, some 35 others were injured.

Since Monday, the Israeli army has installed iron gates at the entrances to towns and villages across the occupied West Bank. This measure is part of a broader policy to tighten the blockade on the region and fragment it into isolated zones, restrict the movement of residents and impose collective punishments.

The Palestinian Authority has been besieging the Jenin refugee camp for about 43 days as part of a campaign to crack down on the resistance. This has led to the deaths of nine individuals, including journalist Shatha Al-Sabbagh, Yazeed Ja’ayseh, three children, a father and his son, in addition to the arrest of dozens of Palestinians, including nurses who provided medical care to camp residents.
