The UN Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestine, Francesca Albanese, said yesterday that “Israel’s presence in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip is illegal,” the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

Israel must be forced to leave the occupied Palestinian territories, she added.

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, the UN Rapporteur pointed out that the “ceasefire in Gaza is fragile and must be maintained.”

Albanese’s statements came in conjunction with the Israeli aggression on Jenin and its refugee camp for the second day in a row, in which the occupation state has killed ten Palestinians and wounded dozens more.

In July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
