The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval of a draft law allowing settlers to purchase Palestinian land in the West Bank.
The ministry warned that this move further entrenches Israeli control over the occupied area, including East Jerusalem, and constitutes the application of Israeli laws to occupied Palestinian territory.
It described the decision as a blatant violation of international law, a disregard for international legitimacy and its resolutions, and a breach of the Geneva Conventions and signed agreements. The ministry also viewed it as part of ongoing efforts to displace Palestinians, annex land and undermine the Palestinian cause.
In a statement issued yesterday, it reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its political, diplomatic and legal efforts at the international level to expose such Israeli violations.
It also held the international community and the UN Security Council responsible for their failure to implement United Nations resolutions on the Palestinian issue, citing inaction, double standards and lack of enforcement.
