Senior Hamas leader, Khaled Meshaal, has offered his condolences to the family of Muhammad Al-Deif, general commander of Hamas’ military wing the Al-Qassam Brigades, who was killed in Gaza last year, Quds Press reported.
In a statement issued yesterday, Meshaal said he spoke on the phone with Deif’s family and offered his and the movement’s condolences and support for the family, stressing that Deif’s steps “will lead the Palestinians to liberation” from the Israeli occupation.
“Our martyred leader followed in the path of Palestinian martyrs that preceded him including Izz Ad-Din Al-Qassam, [Hamas] founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Rantisi, leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar and Saleh Al-Arouri,” he said.
On Thursday, Al-Qassam Brigades announced that Deif were killed during Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip along with six other members of the group’s military council.
The statement came more than seven months after the Israeli occupation army said it assassinated Deif in Gaza.
