Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara and the Syrian administration are in agreement on all issues, Anadolu Agency reported.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, at the presidential complex in Ankara yesterday, Erdogan praised the courage of the Syrian people in their struggle against the oppressive former regime.
“We did not leave our Syrian brothers alone during difficult times, and we will continue to provide them with the necessary support in this new phase,” he said.
Turkiye’s policy towards its neighbour has always been based on preserving the country’s territorial integrity and unity, he added.
Erdogan described Al-Sharaa’s visit to Turkiye as historic, marking the beginning of a lasting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
“I had discussed with my dear brother, Al-Sharaa, the joint steps we can take to establish security and economic stability in Syria,” he added.

The Turkish president also informed Al-Sharaa of Ankara’s readiness to support Syria in combating all forms of terrorism, including Daesh and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
“By working together with Syria, I am confident that we will make our shared region free of terrorism and create an atmosphere of peace and prosperity,” Erdogan said.
He reiterated Turkiye’s dedication to aiding the reconstruction of Syrian cities, expressing confidence that voluntary refugee returns will accelerate alongside Syria’s economic progress.
“We are confident that our resilient Syrian brothers, who have inspired both the region and the oppressed, will successfully rebuild their country,” he affirmed.
Erdogan also highlighted the importance of financial and moral support from the Arab and Islamic world for the new Syrian administration and the Syrian people at this stage.
He noted that efforts are underway to strengthen relations with Syria in various fields, including trade, energy, civil aviation, health and education.
The Turkish president emphasised that Turkiye has stood by the Syrian people without hesitation from the very beginning, pointing out that Ankara reopened its embassy in Damascus and will soon establish a consulate in Aleppo following the new administration’s assumption of power.
