Oman’s Ministry of Defence yesterday signed several military cooperation agreements with Turkiye’s Defence Industries Agency.
According to Al-Shabiba newspaper, the agreements were signed during a workshop organised by the Omani Ministry of Defence as part of the official visit of Haluk Gorgun, chairman of Turkiye’s Defence Industries Agency, and his accompanying delegation to Muscat.
The workshop included presentations on the defence industries of several Turkish companies and areas of cooperation that serve the mutual interests of both countries. Additionally, several contracts were signed with the Turkish companies Havelsan and Aselsan.
On Wednesday, Oman’s Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, Mohammed Bin Nasser Al-Zaabi, received the chairman of Turkiye’s Defence Industries Agency. The two discussed various issues of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance military cooperation. They also reviewed different aspects of defence collaboration to advance shared interests, according to the Oman News Agency.
Relations between Oman and Turkiye have strengthened significantly over the past six years, particularly in economic, trade, investment and military fields.
