Most victims of Swedish school attack are of migrant origins

Swedish police said that eight out of ten people killed in the attack on a school in the city of Orebro are of migrant origins and the other two are Swedish citizens.

Stockholm police told Anadolu news agency that the perpetrator of the attack, Rickard Andersson, is a 35-year-old Swedish citizen, “suffered from psychological disorders.”

Orebro city police explained in a statement that the attack resulted in the deaths of ten people, including seven women and three men, and the attacker committed suicide.

The statement confirmed that eight of the dead are of immigrant origin, two of whom hold Syrian citizenship, and the others are from Eritrea, Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq, in addition to two Swedish citizens.

On 4 February, an armed attack took place at Risbergska High School in Orebro, killing 11 people, including the perpetrator. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the attack as “the worst mass shooting in Swedish history,” calling on the Swedish people to stand together and unite.
