France expressed concern on Tuesday over the deaths of many Palestinian civilians in Israeli attacks in the northern West Bank, Anadolu Agency has reported.
“France is deeply concerned about the many civilian casualties – particularly children – and the people displaced as a result of the Israeli operations under way in the north of the West Bank,” said the French Foreign Ministry. “The way the use of force is being employed by the Israeli army in the West Bank is extremely concerning.”
The ministry urged the Israeli authorities to fulfil their obligations under international humanitarian law. It also called for the protection of civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Israeli army has been carrying out a military operation in the northern West Bank, alongside large-scale raids in other areas for almost a month. Moreover, since 7 October 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified their attacks across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the killing of 910 Palestinians, the wounding of nearly 7,000 others, and the arrest of 14,500, according to official Palestinian data.
