Dozens of Israeli rabbis have sent a message to US President Donald Trump, in which they claimed that he is “God’s emissary in the global battle against evil” and that settlements bring peace to the entire world. This was said in a letter sent to Trump by rabbis from the Torat Ha’aretz HaTova organisation, according to Israel Hayom on Wednesday.

“Trump was chosen by God for this significant role,” said the rabbis, who praised his efforts in support of the US, Israel and the free world. “The current fight against radical terrorism is not just a regional conflict, but a battle for the survival of moral and just values worldwide.”

The signatories claimed that “We are currently in the midst of Judaism’s war against radical Islam, which is in fact a battle of the free world against cruel violence, which hates civilisation and the moral values that all nations have inherited from the Bible.”

They also claimed that “Moses and the prophets of Israel foretold the establishment of the Jewish state, the ingathering of exiles, the rebuilding of Jerusalem and settlements in the West Bank and Gaza. The settlement of the Land of Israel brings blessing and peace to the entire world and symbolises a return to the values given at Mount Sinai. We see these prophecies coming to fruition more and more, and we see in your [President Trump] actions and words the correct path that brings good to the world.”

They ended their letter by telling Trump, “We pray in the Land of Israel and in Jerusalem that God will protect you and those around you, that His blessing will rest upon your work, and that you will bring peace and prosperity to the entirety.”

The anti-Israel Neturei Karta movement, “a Jewish organisation dedicated to exposing Zionism and its actions,” however, said on 19 January that “The State of Israel is a catastrophe, not just for Palestine but for the Jewish people as well.”

Zionism, added the organisation in a statement on its website, has dismantled centuries of peaceful coexistence between Jews and Palestinians. “Before its emergence, these communities lived in harmony. The Zionist occupation and ethnic cleansing disrupted this peace, replacing it with injustice, violence and oppression, resulting in an endless cycle of bloodshed.”

The “crimes committed by Israel are in violation of the Jewish religion and accepted standards of human rights,” added Neturei Karta. “Judaism, as taught in the Torah, forbids killing, stealing and oppression. Zionism, however, directly contradicts these sacred teachings, exploiting religion to justify crimes against humanity.”
