Palestinian families in Gaza face heartbreak as they search for their missing sons during the ceasefire in the enclave, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.
Mohammad Raed Abu Said, 26, and Ahmad Yaseen Al-Louh, 20, are just two young men who left home one day and have not returned. Their families are left wondering where they are.
Mohammed left his home in the East Bureij Camp on the morning of 20 July last year. It was supposed to be an ordinary day looking for supplies for his family. He didn’t return.
Ahmed disappeared at the very beginning of the genocide, when he and his cousin went to the Malaka area on the east of the Gaza Strip to see what was happening. The date was 7 October, 2023. He did not return. His fate remains unknown.
Both families are left asking questions with no answers. Were they detained by the occupation regime? Were they forcibly disappeared? Were they wounded? Were they killed?
They have appealed to local and international human rights organizations to try to discover the whereabouts of their sons. They are not alone. Many families are in the same position, and they know that it could be a long wait before they find out what happened to their missing family members.
