Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, has urged former US President Donald Trump to pressure Qatar into accepting all residents of the Gaza Strip instead of relocating them to Jordan or Egypt.

In an interview with Channel 14, Erdan described Qatar as the source of all evils in the Middle East, stating that it is in Israel’s interest to weaken its influence.

According to Erdan, Qatar aims to expand its power and influence, and therefore, Israel should stop granting it legitimacy. He said that Qatar has hosted Hamas leaders and funds terrorism, adding that Israel has made a major mistake over the years by cooperating with it.

The former envoy noted that while engaging with Qatar might have been a viable option in the past, Israel must now take all necessary steps to expose its true nature.

Erdan further asserted that Israel’s best interest is to restore Egypt’s role as the primary mediator in negotiations over Gaza’s future. Qatar is not only a financier of terrorism, he emphasised, but also funds efforts to boycott Israel and delegitimise it in American universities, which harms Israel’s image.

He concluded by saying that Qatar is a small but wealthy country with a population of just 300,000. It has vast land and significant financial resources. Trump must pressure it to accept all Gaza’s residents and host them within its territory.
