The Israeli army said on Thursday that it had completed its attacks on Hezbollah’s military targets in southern Lebanon, following a series of strikes that were condemned by United Nations peacekeeping forces.

According to the Israeli army, the operation targeted weapon depots belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Unit, accusing the group of rearming in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

In its statement, the army said that “the weapons depots were built within areas populated by civilians.” It also called on residents to evacuate specific buildings and nearby areas in five locations across the south of the country.

Lebanon’s President, Joseph Aoun, described Israel’s actions in southern Lebanon on Thursday as “a fully-fledged crime and a heinous political offence.”
