Turkey’s Ministry of Defence said yesterday that Ankara expects any international stabilisation force deployed in Gaza to be able to guarantee the continuation of the fragile ceasefire, Reuters reported.

Turkey, a NATO member, has been one of the strongest critics of Israel’s campaign in Gaza, describing it as genocide. It has become a key actor and mediator in ceasefire efforts, and has expressed interest in joining the peacekeeping force, despite Israel’s opposition.

During a press briefing in Ankara, the ministry added that Turkey believes the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) must ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Gaza without interruption and in line with international law.
