Palestinian and Lebanese political and civil society groups issued strong condemnations on Wednesday following the Israeli airstrike on the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon that killed 13 children and youths, most of them students, and wounded several others.
The Teachers’ Union, representing Palestinian educators in Lebanon, said the attack amounted to a “heinous crime targeting innocent lives and vulnerable bodies,” calling on the public to stand with the families of the victims. The union said the blood of the students “will not deter us from defending our demands, identity, and legitimate struggle for our rights — it will only strengthen our resolve.”
The union also expressed surprise that UNRWA’s administration in Lebanon had not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
Separate statements were released by a leadership delegation of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a PLO faction, and by the Lebanese–Palestinian Political Gathering, a coalition of Lebanese and Palestinian parties. Both groups condemned the Israeli strike and described it as part of an escalating campaign targeting Palestinian civilians in Lebanon and across the region.
